CINCINNATI — Kyle Schwarber hit a National League-leading 42nd home run during a four-run eigth inning that helped the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 on Monday.
It was game No. 13 this season for me. It was cool to see Schwarber, who attended Middletown High School and Indiana University, blast a two-run home run that was reviewed and confirmed by the umpiring crew.
Andrew Abbott no-hit the Phillies through four innings and led the Reds to a 1-0 lead after TJ Friedl scored following his leadoff double and Gavin Lux’s two-out RBI single.

Abbott recorded all six of Cincinnati’s strikeouts while its staff walked none. The Reds had six hits off Philadelphia starter Taijuan Walker in six innings but managed just one after he was relieved by Jordan Romano, who earned the win after one scoreless seventh inning.
