The Cincinnati Reds will begin the season Thursday on Opening Day against the San Francisco Giants at 4:10 p.m. at Great American Ballpark.

Wilmer Flores’ go-ahead three-run home run capped four-consecutive Giants runs with two outs in the top of the ninth inning giving San Francisco a 6-3 lead.
The last hope for the Reds came when TJ Friedl connected on an RBI single driving in Jacob Hurtubise who was hit by a pitch in the bottom half. Matt McLain flew out to the left field warning track with the tying run on first base to end the game.

Greene’s eight strikeouts are sixth-most by a Reds pitcher on Opening Day, according to the Cincinnati Reds.
Thursday was the earliest in the month of March the Reds played Opening Day. March 28, twice before, was the previous earliest date, according to the Cincinnati Reds.

End of 7th inning
It looked like a pitcher’s duel in the beginning, and Greene had seven punch outs through the first three frames.
De La Cruz scored another run as well as Frield on Candelario’s second hit of the game in the third inning.
2024 National League All-Star Heliot Ramos homered to right field off Greene and made it 3-2 after four.
End of 1st inning
The Reds are on the board first 1-0 after Jeimer Candelario singled Elly De La Cruz home with two outs in the bottom of the first inning.
Hunter Greene got Willy Adames to go down on strikes and struck out Jung Hoo Lee swinging in the top half.
