Major League Baseball‘s all-time hits leader Pete Rose passed away September 30 at 83 years old. Great American Ballpark hosted Rose’s visitation on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., honoring his uniform No. 14 that is retired by the Cincinnati Reds.
Rose played in 24 MLB seasons spanning from 1963-86. He tallied 4,256 hits in his career. The Cincinnati native played for the Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Montreal Expos winning three World Series championships.

“Our hearts are deeply saddened by the news of Pete’s passing,” Reds Principal Owner and Managing Partner Bob Castellini stated in a release Sept. 30. “He was one of the fiercest competitors the game has ever seen, and every team he played for was better because of him. Pete was a Red through and through. No one loved the game more than Pete and no one loved Pete more than Reds Country. We must never forget what he accomplished.”
Rose’s daughters Fawn and Cara greeted those who attended the visitation at the ballpark.
The Reds will hold Pete Rose Day next season on May 14, 2025, at 7:14 p.m. ET against the Chicago White Sox.
