Baseball fans will have a new choice to access MLB Network, as the network announced Wednesday it will offer a standalone streaming option directly to consumers.
MLB Network can now be purchased for $5.99 per month as a standalone offering in the United States, according to a release.

“As the way viewers consume content continues to evolve, we are excited for baseball fans to have this new option to experience MLB Network through direct-to-consumer streaming,” President of MLB Network Bill Morningstar stated in a release. “Going this direction allows us to significantly expand our reach to fans and gives them more choices on how they want to watch the Network’s Emmy Award-winning coverage. With the season approaching the trade deadline, pennant chases and Postseason, MLB Network will provide the most extensive baseball coverage and analysis available anywhere for our viewers.”

With the upcoming Trade Deadline and postseason on the way, MLB Network is taking advantage of a ripe time of year on the MLB calendar to offer customers a new way to view the platform.

According to a release, “there is now also a combined ‘MLB Network + At Bat’ option for $6.99/per month.” For those who purchase this, it “offers all of MLB Network’s 24/7 content, plus every feature of the MLB At Bat subscription, including live game audio for all 30 MLB teams, live Minor League Baseball games and access to MLB Big Inning.”
Fans who are current and future paid subscribers of MLB.TV’s all teams and single team packages in the U.S. “can stream MLB Network for the remainder of the 2024 season,” and “fans who receive MLB Network from a participating pay TV partner can watch via an authenticated stream,” which has been offered for 10-consecutive years.

MLB Network analyst and former MLB left-hander Dan Plesac shared the news of the direct-to-consumer launch Wednesday on X.
According to a release, MLB Tonight “registered a +52% increase in viewership over 2023 for its pre- and postgame coverage across four programs for the Monday of the Home Run Derby and the Tuesday of the All-Star Game.”
“Alternate programming” will be provided to viewers subject to local blackouts for all live games on MLB Network, according to a release.
MLB Network launched in 2009 and is in its 16th season. It has received 42 national Sports Emmy Awards for its content and production.
