The Cincinnati Reds announced Jan. 2 on X that they signed right-handed pitcher Frankie Montas to a one-year contract.

Montas spent the 2023 season with the New York Yankees and appeared in just one game. He had right shoulder surgery, and the Yankees placed him on the 60-day injured list on April 3, 2023.

Montas’ contract includes a mutual option for the 2025 season.

In a corresponding move, the Reds designated catcher Austin Wynns for assignment.
